"For example, with Gran Torino, I came up with his Quirk when I was taking a shower. "But since then, it has been more of a 'light bulb' or 'Ah Ha' moment - by being inspired by the things around me. "Back when the series first started, sometimes in order to move the story forward or make sure characters fought, that is how Quirks were sometimes inspired," Horikoshi said (via ComicBook).
